Extension services are critical to promoting sustainable agriculture. Because extension officers are often limited in their capacity to reach all farmers, the project adopted a farmer-to-farmer extension initiative to promote sustainable land management practices.
As part of this capacity-building process, 477 lead farmers 422 males, 55 females completed a targeted training series at the Centre for No-Till Agriculture (CNTA) in Amanchia, Ashanti Region. This training introduced location-specific technologies designed to increase productivity, restore degraded landscapes, and build climate resilience.
Specifically, the programme strengthened the farmers' practical skills in Conservation Agriculture (CA) and Sustainable Land and Water Management (SLWM), with a focus on sustainable land preparation, planting techniques, soil health, soil cover, and weed management.
