As part of efforts to address environmental and social challenges in Ghana, GLRSSMP organized two (2) training at the Anita Hotel in Ejisu from June 18th to June 23rd, 2023, and at the Extee Hotel in Bolgatanga from June 19 to June 23, 2023.
The event brought together key representatives from various government ministries and agencies, including the Ministry of Environment, Science, Technology, and Innovation (MESTI), the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources (MLNR), the Ministry of Food and Agriculture(MoFA), the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and others. The training sessions left beneficiaries equipped with skills in environmental and social risk management and Grievance Redress Mechanisms (GRM).
The workshop aimed not only to foster a collective understanding of E&S and GRM but also to formulate strategies that promote responsible mining practices and contribute to environmental preservation.
The collaboration of these diverse ministries and agencies underscored a unified commitment to addressing the challenges associated with small-scale mining and its impact on Ghana’s landscape.
The GLRSSMP training course represents a significant milestone in Ghana's ongoing commitment to developing and implementing sustainable practices in the mining sector. The workshop not only facilitated knowledge exchange but also underscored a shared commitment to mitigating the environmental and social impacts of mining activities in Ghana.
