The Northern Savannah Ecological Zone continues to face long dry spells and declining soil fertility, leading to reduced agricultural production, food insecurity, and unsustainable livelihoods.
To address these challenges, the GLRSSMP in collaboration with the Department of Agriculture, conducted a participatory community watershed planning exercise in targeted communities. As part of this effort, the District Department of Agriculture provided training on compost preparation, as well as essential equipment, including spades, shovels, pickaxes, and watering cans.
Through these interventions, beneficiary farmers have successfully transformed their agricultural practices. The resulting improvement in soil quality has significantly increased crop yields, demonstrating how community-driven solutions and technical support can build resilience against harsh environmental conditions.
